Double shot from Elzhi’s debut album “The Preface” out now on iTunes it is so damn hot. You got most of the production being handled by Black Milk. Seriously the concepts and flow by Elzhi are something serious. “The Preface” is highly recommended by Big M and myself.

Double shot from the new Nappy Roots album “Humdinger” out now on iTunes for the special price of 8 bucks. This is a nice album reflecting the diversity of the South some mellow and strip club joints. Big M killed me in hip-hop trivia including naming all five members of the Nappy Roots crew, but the lost is made easier by the smooth summer vibe of my favourite album cut “Good Day”.

We have been waiting for a while to hear this album “Grey Hairs” by Reks, so we thought that we would feature two brand new joints from this classic boom bap hip-hop album to start things off right. We have been blasting you with tracks from this album over the last couple months and had Reks on the show a couple shows back. So you should already know what is good! Now go support Reks, Statik Selektah, and the rest of the good people at Showoff Records and we can’t wait for the new Statik Selektah album “Stick 2 The Script”.

Triple shot from the new Nas album “Nas/Untitled” on Def Jam. Even with all the hype and controversy over the original naming of this album listening to this album I believe is one of Nas’s most complete pieces. And, I did have my doubts going in. Although, Nas handles most of the raps there are guests such as Last Poets, Busta Rhymes, The Game, and Stic Man on production. Even O-Dog co-signed with Big M and myself that this album has got the joints!

Double shot from the new Killer Mike album “I Pledge Alliance to the Grind 2” on Grind Time Official/SMC Recordings. A lot of people are hating on Southern ish these days, but back in the day I loved Southern hip-hop, because it brought an ignored perspective and sound we rarely heard here in the North West. This Killer Mike album is no holds bar and definitely gets back to that essence.

This week’s double shot comes from RZA’s new album “Digi Snacks” on Koch Records. Once RZA is laying down beats and rhyme styles only few can comprehend. Loving some of the tracks and could do without other ones, but a solid effort nevertheless.

This week’s double shot comes from RZA’s new album “Digi Snacks” on Koch Records. Once RZA is laying down beats and rhyme styles only few can comprehend. Loving some of the tracks and could do without other ones, but a solid effort nevertheless.

The double shot this week is the brand new N.E.R.D. album “Seeing Sounds” on Interscope Records. This is N.E.R.D.’s third album and as you would expect from the Neptunes boys and Shae Haley this album is musically progressive and very fun. There is songs on this album that are throwbacks to the disco era, drum and bass influenced, based around melodic hooks, but all of it fits together and creates a refreshing record.

Double shot from the slamming new J-Live album “Then What Happened”, this one comes courtesy of BBE Records and is an extremely solid album. Production-wise you got Oddisee, Jazzy Jeff, Nu-Mark, Evil Dee, etc…and J-Live delivers some introspective lyrics about his journey in the game. Please support this album if you enjoyed the two tracks of the top, and likewise with any of the other tracks we play through out the show.

Double shot from the Kidz In The Hall’s sophomore album “The In Crowd” on MLE/Duck Down Records. This album has been much appreciated partly due to the strengthen of single “Drivin The Block” and partly due to the fact that many hip-hop fans are looking for a change, a new breed of MC and music. This album and Kidz In The Hall really accomplishes this through a solid release with exciting features and dope party tracks. So go download it and peep it, but then actually buy it as we need to support music like this to send a message that we want a change.

Double shot from Berkeley’s own Lyrics Born new album “Everywhere At Once” on Epitaph. Definitely feeling this release, it is super hype and is a great album to put on to get the party started. It is hype, fun, and most importantly a quality release. We highly recommend checking this album out and for all my US peeps it is available at Target for only $9.99. Don’t be sad peoples of Vancity, because he is kicking his West Coast tour off this Saturday at Plaza Nightclub, note it is going to be an early show.

Double shot from the brand new Little Vic album/EP “Each Dawn I Die” out now on Orena Records. This album has apparently been out for a minute but it was just put on our radar this week and it was a pleasant surprise. This EP is a good look for fans looking for lyricist and quality hip-hop from NYC. Little Vic handles major of the rhymes, but enlists producers such as DJ Premier and Buckwild. Along new upcoming producers Double Shot and Velotz who I am looking forward to hearing more from in the future.
